Description

Camp Description:
In this fun and imaginative class, young artists will explore the world of Zentangles and maze-making, combining creativity with mindful art techniques. Students will learn how to create intricate Zentangle patterns that relax and inspire, while also designing their own mazes to challenge friends and family. This course focuses on using lines, shapes, and patterns to create detailed, engaging artwork that exercises both the artistic and problem-solving sides of the brain.

Session Structure:

  • Introduction to Zentangle Art: Learn about the calming and meditative art of Zentangles. Students will be introduced to the basics of creating repeating patterns and how to break down complex designs into simple steps.
  • Pattern Creation and Exploration: Explore various Zentangle patterns, focusing on line work, shapes, and shading techniques. Students will practice creating their own unique patterns, combining them to create a larger design.
  • Maze Design Basics: Shift focus to maze-making by learning how to construct fun and challenging mazes. Students will plan and draw mazes with different levels of complexity, creating paths, dead ends, and unique twists.
  • Combining Zentangle and Maze Art: Students will learn how to integrate Zentangle patterns into their maze designs, adding a creative and decorative element to their puzzles.
  • Final Project: Zentangle Maze Creation: Students will combine all their skills to create a final piece—a fully designed maze incorporating Zentangle patterns. Each student will create a large-scale maze that challenges players and showcases their artistic patterns.

Educational Objectives:

  • Introduction to Pattern Art: Teach students how to create intricate patterns using simple lines and shapes through the Zentangle method.
  • Mindful Art Practice: Encourage mindfulness and focus through the meditative process of Zentangle drawing, promoting relaxation and concentration.
  • Creative Problem-Solving: Develop students’ problem-solving skills through maze design, challenging them to create both visually interesting and solvable puzzles.
  • Combination of Art and Puzzle Making: Show students how to merge creative art forms with interactive puzzle design, encouraging both artistic and analytical thinking.
