Camp Description:
Introduce young artists to the art of weaving in this engaging course that explores basic fiber arts techniques. Participants will learn how to use simple looms and a variety of fibers to create their own woven projects. Through hands-on activities, students will discover the joy and creativity of weaving, creating everything from basic tapestries to small functional items.

Session Structure:

  • Introduction to Weaving Tools and Materials: Familiarize students with different types of looms and fibers, explaining their uses and characteristics.
  • Basic Weaving Techniques: Teach fundamental weaving methods such as warping the loom, plain weave, and adding in new colors.
  • Project-Based Learning: Guide students through creating their own woven pieces, such as bookmarks, coasters, or simple wall hangings.
  • Exploration of Textures and Patterns: Encourage experimentation with various textures and patterns to enhance their projects and develop their artistic voice.
