Camp Description:
This Summer Art Intensive is a focused, in-depth camp designed for teens who are passionate about oil painting. Over the course of the program, students will explore advanced oil painting techniques, experiment with color and texture, and develop their unique artistic style. With dedicated studio time from 1-4pm, professional instruction, and personalized critiques, this intensive provides a space for serious young artists to refine their skills and create a portfolio-worthy body of work.

Session Structure:

  • Oil Painting Techniques: Learn the essentials of oil painting, including color mixing, glazing, layering, and handling mediums to create texture and depth.
  • Color Theory and Application: Dive into advanced color theory, learning how to mix complex hues, create vibrant contrasts, and evoke emotion through color choices.
  • Composition and Form: Explore how composition, balance, and perspective play a crucial role in creating impactful oil paintings.
  • Personal Artistic Growth: With guidance from professional instructors, students will be encouraged to experiment with style and subject matter, pushing the boundaries of their creativity.
  • Critique and Feedback: Engage in regular critique sessions with peers and instructors, receiving constructive feedback to refine techniques and improve the quality of each piece.
  • Final Project: Students will work towards a final oil painting project that showcases the skills and techniques they’ve learned throughout the camp. This piece can be a part of their portfolio or serve as a milestone in their artistic development.

Educational Objectives:

  • Mastery of Oil Painting Techniques: Gain confidence and proficiency in handling oil paints, mediums, and brushes, with an emphasis on both traditional and experimental techniques.

Materials Provided:
All necessary oil painting supplies, including paints, brushes, canvases, palettes, and mediums, will be provided. Students are welcome to bring any additional materials or reference images they wish to use for personal projects.
