Camp Description:
Dive into the inspiring world of environmental sculpture in this course, where participants create unique, eco-friendly artworks using natural materials. Inspired by the works of renowned contemporary artists like Andy Goldsworthy and Nils-Udo, students will learn to harness the beauty and variety of nature, creating sculptures that reflect and harmonize with the natural world around them.

Session Structure:

  • Introduction to Artists and Materials: Begin with an overview of famous contemporary artists known for their nature-based sculptures, exploring how they use materials like wood, stones, leaves, and natural clays.
  • Techniques for Natural Sculpting: Learn methods for assembling natural materials, focusing on techniques that maintain the integrity and balance of the environment.
  • Artistic Inspiration from Nature: Take guided walks to gather materials and draw inspiration from the landscape, learning to see natural forms through the lens of artists like Goldsworthy and Nils-Udo.
  • Hands-On Project Creation: Participants will create their own sculptures, applying artistic concepts and techniques learned to express their vision while considering environmental impact.
  • Discussion on Sustainability and Art: Engage in discussions about sustainability in art, considering the ethical implications and environmental impacts of sourcing and using natural materials.
