Description

Camp Description:
In this exciting and imaginative course, young artists will explore the world of interior design by creating their own dream spaces through art. Students will learn the basics of color, layout, and design as they plan, sketch, and build miniature room models. From designing walls and furniture to adding artistic details, participants will have fun creating their own personalized, creative spaces while learning key concepts in both art and interior design.

Session Structure:

  • Introduction to Interior Design: Learn what interior design is and explore how color, furniture placement, and lighting can transform a space. Students will start by brainstorming their dream room and what makes a space feel comfortable and creative.
  • Room Layout and Planning: Plan out the layout of your room by sketching a floor plan. Students will learn how to organize a space with furniture, art, and decorative items to create a balanced and functional design.
  • Color Theory and Mood: Explore how color choices can set the mood for a room. Students will experiment with different color palettes and learn how colors can affect emotions and the overall feel of a space.
  • Furniture and Object Design: Using art materials like clay, cardboard, and paper, students will create mini pieces of furniture and decorations for their rooms, focusing on proportion, creativity, and functionality.
  • Wall Art and Decor: Design and create artwork for the walls of their mini rooms, using painting, drawing, and collage techniques to make each space unique.
  • Building a Miniature Room: Using cardboard, students will construct a 3D model of their room, complete with walls, floors, and all the furniture and art they’ve designed. This hands-on project allows students to bring their dream space to life.

Educational Objectives:

  • Understanding of Interior Design Principles: Teach students the basics of interior design, including layout, color theory, and how design elements work together to create a functional and beautiful space.
  • Artistic Development: Enhance artistic skills through drawing, painting, and model-building, while focusing on creative expression in a real-world context.
  • Spatial Awareness and Creativity: Help students develop spatial awareness by planning and creating 3D models, allowing them to think critically about space, proportion, and design.
  • Personal Expression in Design: Encourage students to express their personal style and preferences through the creation of their own dream room, using their imagination to design a space that reflects their personality.
