Camp Description:
This course introduces young artists to the fundamentals of sculpting with clay. Participants will learn various techniques to mold, shape, and create both imaginative figures and functional pieces. The sessions are designed to help students understand the properties of clay and develop their hand-building skills through engaging and creative projects.
Session Structure:
- Introduction to Clay: Start with the basics of clay handling, learning about different types of clay and their uses.
- Basic Techniques: Explore foundational techniques such as pinching, coiling, and slab construction.
- Creating Figures: Guide students through the process of sculpting their own imaginative characters or animals using simple shaping methods.
- Functional Art Pieces: Learn how to make basic functional items like cups, bowls, or plates, focusing on form and function.
- Decoration and Finishing: Introduce surface decoration techniques such as texturing, painting, and glazing to enhance the aesthetic and finish of their creations.
