Description

Camp Description:
In this dynamic course, teens will explore the versatility of acrylic paints, enhancing their skills in both realism and abstract techniques. Through guided instruction and creative experimentation, participants will learn to create detailed, realistic paintings as well as expressive, abstract works. The course focuses on mastering acrylic painting techniques while encouraging personal style and creative exploration.

Session Structure:

  • Introduction to Acrylic Techniques: Learn the basics of working with acrylic paints, including brush control, blending, layering, and mixing colors.
  • Realism Focus: Develop skills in realism by studying subjects such as still life, landscapes, and portraits, focusing on details, shading, and depth to achieve lifelike results.
  • Exploring Abstract Styles: Shift focus to abstract painting, exploring color theory, texture, and form to create expressive, non-representational works.
  • Combining Realism and Abstraction: Experiment with blending realism and abstract elements in a single piece, pushing creative boundaries.
  • Project Development: Create personal projects that reflect individual style, drawing on the skills learned throughout the course.

Educational Objectives:

  • Mastery of Acrylic Techniques: Develop technical proficiency in acrylic painting, from fine details in realism to bold expressions in abstract work.
  • Creative Exploration: Encourage creative risk-taking and personal expression through both structured and experimental painting styles.
  • Understanding of Artistic Styles: Gain an understanding of how realism and abstraction can be used to communicate different artistic intentions and emotions.
  • Confidence in Artistic Expression: Build confidence in working with acrylics, helping students feel comfortable expressing their unique vision through their artwork.
