Description

Sketchbook Explorations: Inspiring Your Artistic Practice is a course thoughtfully designed to merge the exploratory spirit of Julia Cameron's creativity-enhancing practices with rigorous artistic exploration. This program aims to foster new ideas, nurture personal growth, and encourage innovative thinking through a variety of guided sketchbook exercises. Participants will delve into activities that are introspective, observational, and interactive, pushing the boundaries of traditional sketchbook use. The course is structured to provoke thought, invite curiosity, and challenge participants to view their surroundings and internal landscapes through an artistic lens.

Course Outcomes for Students -

  • Engage in a daily sketching practice, focusing on different senses, emotions, places, and concepts, to continuously expand their artistic exploration.
  • Establish personal creative rituals to enhance focus and creativity, observing the impact of these rituals on their artistic practice.
  • Gain proficiency in translating thoughts and words into visual imagery, enhancing the narrative interplay between text and visuals in their art.
  • Learn techniques for abstracting emotions into visual forms and colors, creating "emotional landscapes" that represent different feelings.
  • Participate in a community of learners, sharing experiences and feedback, to foster a supportive environment for artistic development.

Requirements - A curious and interested mind, no experience is necessary for this course.

Materials - All regular course materials are included, though students may receive lists of supplies if they would like to practice at home after the course ends. We do provide a sketchbook for students, but students are welcome to bring their own if they choose.
