Description

Muse Hunting: Idea-Making and Designing Your Art Canon is an immersive course designed for adults seeking to broaden their artistic influences and create a personalized canon of inspirations. This program encourages participants to embark on a journey of discovery, exploring a diverse range of artists, movements, and mediums to ignite their creativity and refine their artistic voice. Through guided research, thematic exploration, and creative exercises, participants will identify and analyze works that resonate with their personal aesthetic and conceptual interests, culminating in the development of a rich, individualized art canon.

Course Outcomes for Students - 

  • Create art pieces influenced by their explorations across different themes such as historical inspirations, contemporary voices, cross-cultural explorations, nature and environment, the body and identity, and abstract and conceptual art, applying learned techniques and insights.
  • Develop a personalized art canon that reflects their aesthetic and conceptual preferences, ensuring a deep and meaningful collection of inspirations.
  • Identify and articulate their current artistic interests, influences, and the themes, techniques, and emotions that resonate with them, creating a foundational understanding of their personal artistic identity.
  • Practice abstraction and conceptual thinking, experimenting with ways to express complex ideas through abstract and conceptual art forms
  • Participate in a community of learners, sharing experiences and feedback, to foster a supportive environment for artistic development.

Requirements - A curious and interested mind, no experience is necessary for this course.  

Materials - All regular course materials are included, though students may receive lists of supplies if they would like to practice at home after the course ends. We do provide a sketchbook for students, but students are welcome to bring their own if they choose.
