Introduction to Oil Painting: Techniques and Portraiture is a class designed to offer a foundational understanding of oil painting, with a special focus on techniques and portraiture. This class introduces students to the rich tradition of oil painting, guiding them through the basics of color theory, medium manipulation, and brushwork to create lifelike portraits and expressive compositions.Students will learn how to prepare their canvas, mix colors to achieve desired hues and tones, and explore various painting techniques such as glazing, impasto, and scumbling. The course places a strong emphasis on understanding facial anatomy, light, and shadow, enabling students to capture the essence and character of their subjects in their portrait works.Through demonstrations, personalized instruction, and practice, participants will develop their skills in oil painting, from setting up their palette to the final touches that bring a portrait to life. The class aims to foster a deep appreciation for oil painting, encouraging students to continue exploring its potential for personal expression and artistic growth. By the end of the course, students will have completed several oil paintings, including at least one detailed portrait, showcasing their newly acquired techniques and understanding of portraiture.Requirements:No experience is needed, only an interest and curiosity about art!Materials Needed:All materials are included in this course!
