Dynamic Landscapes: Capturing Nature with Acrylics

Dynamic Landscapes: Capturing Nature with Acrylics is designed for adult learners interested in exploring the natural world through the vibrant and versatile medium of acrylic paint. This course focuses on teaching students how to capture the essence of various landscapes, from serene countrysides to dramatic seascapes, using acrylics. Emphasis will be placed on color blending, layering techniques, and creating textures that bring landscape paintings to life.

Course Outcomes for Students - 

• Discover how to convey the changing seasons within a landscape, including color choices and elements that signify seasonal transitions.
• Master techniques for painting skies and clouds, learning how to blend colors to create various times of the day and atmospheric conditions.
• Develop a strong understanding of composition, perspective, and the effective use of light and shadow in landscape painting.
• Learn detailed brushwork techniques for painting different types of trees, foliage, and vegetation, emphasizing texture and the play of light.
• Participate in a community of learners, sharing experiences and feedback, to foster a supportive environment for artistic development.

Requirements - A curious and interested mind, no experience is necessary for this course.  

Materials - All regular course materials are included, though students may receive lists of supplies if they would like to practice at home after the course ends. We do provide a sketchbook for students, but students are welcome to bring their own if they choose.
