Description

How do you tell a story without any words? Let's learn visual storytelling with your own story.

In this week-long class, students ages 6-12 are welcome to draw a long story or many stories from their own lives.  Every student will move through the complete comic drawing process. Every child makes work from their own imagination and stories, so every work is different!  Students start by imagining their stories and ideas, and teachers work as guides to help them bring it to life.  Previous students have drawn themselves realistically, while others have turned their whole family and friends into different animals.  Excitingly, this is a course where students learn to turn what is in their imagination and memory and bring it to life on the page!

Students can expect to --

  • brainstorm ideas
  • construct a story and story arc
  • storyboard their ideas, as inspired by animators and filmmakers
  • penciling in ideas
  • adding color with marker, paint pens, or paint

Skill Level:

Beginner to our artistic friends who have had more experience.  We recommend that students arrive ready to explore and create! Bring your imagination!

Materials:

All materials and snacks are included in this course. We do recommend that students bring a water bottle labeled with their name.
