Description

An introduction to watercolor practices! 

In this class, adult students will exercise skills and elements of watercolor painting.   Explore watercolor as a medium and gain an understanding of various techniques and practices. Students will begin with the use of watercolor, varying consistency, opacity, and usage, mixing and color theory.  Students will gain confidence and fluency in skill as they come to understand layering, color relationships, and honoring brush control. This course will include informal, warm-up exercises, guided demonstrations and instruction, and inspiration from contemporary artists.

Note: this course is three weeks long, as the Cultivate Education team is taking one week off to prepare for summer art camp courses.

Students can expect to

  • understand different brushes and paper for watercolor painting
  • make a variety of technique postcards and work to remember for later
  • gain inspiration from many watercolor illustration and fine artists
  • explore colors and how to blend
  • make many beautiful works to be proud of! 

Skill Level:

This is a beginner course, or to welcome intermediate students who would like a refresher.
