Description

In this four-week course designed for young artists aged 6-12, students will gain hands-on experience in acrylic painting. The course progresses through essential painting techniques starting with basic color blending, advancing to layering and glazing for added complexity, exploring various tools for creating texture, and concluding with principles of composition to assemble a cohesive final artwork.

Course Outcomes for Elementary Students - 

Mastery of Basic Color Theory: Students will understand how to blend and mix colors, enabling them to create desired hues and shades for their artworks.

Technical Proficiency in Acrylic Painting: Students will become proficient in key acrylic painting techniques, such as layering and glazing, to create works with depth and dimension.

Understanding of Composition Principles: Students will learn how to organize visual elements effectively within their paintings to create balanced and engaging compositions.

Development of Creative Expression: The course will equip students with the tools to express their individual ideas and emotions through acrylic painting.

Enhanced Observational Skills: Students will refine their ability to observe and interpret the world around them, translating this into their artistic work.

Increased Artistic Confidence: Through hands-on practice and constructive feedback, students will gain confidence in their ability to create meaningful and aesthetically pleasing artworks.

 

Requirements - 
A curious and interested mind, no experience is necessary for this course.  

Materials - 
All regular course materials are included, though students may bring in things from home for the sculpture work.  We'll happily store them throughout the class so they have it! Students may receive lists of supplies if they would like to practice at home after the course ends.
