Description

In this comprehensive eight-week course, adults will delve into the multifaceted world of mural artistry. Designed for beginners and more seasoned artists, the course covers technical skills, historical context, and the business aspects of mural creation. Participants will learn how to navigate community engagement, client consultations, and legal protocols, culminating in a hands-on mural project. An optional tour of Grand Rapids' murals will provide real-world insights and inspiration.

Course Outcomes for Students - 

Attain a solid grasp of the history and societal impact of murals.
Master the technical elements of mural creation, including surface preparation and paint application.
Develop skills for meaningful community or client engagement.
Gain a practical understanding of the freelance and business aspects, such as contracts and insurance.
Understand and apply safety measures for mural projects.
Contribute to a real-world mural project or complete an individual mural design.

Requirements - 
A curious and interested mind, no experience is necessary for this course.  

Materials - 
All regular course materials are included, though students may receive lists of supplies if they would like to practice at home after the course ends.
