This six-week course introduces high school students to the fundamental techniques and concepts of drawing. The course emphasizes both technical proficiency and creative exploration, starting from basic line work and progressing to complex perspectives and figure drawing. Students will work on longer projects that span two weeks, allowing for deep engagement with each skill set, culminating in a final project and portfolio review.
Course Outcomes for Elementary Students -
Mastery of Line Quality: Students will be able to apply different line qualities to add depth, texture, and emotion to their drawings.
Understanding of Shading Techniques: Students will gain proficiency in various shading techniques like cross-hatching, stippling, and blending to create a realistic sense of light and shadow.
Proficiency in Perspective Drawing: By the end of the course, students will be capable of applying one-point and two-point perspective in their drawings to depict three-dimensional spaces effectively.
Anatomical Awareness: Students will grasp the basics of drawing human figures and objects in proportion, enhancing their capability to depict real-world subjects.
Critical Analysis Skills: Students will develop the ability to critique and analyze artworks, including their own, facilitating a deeper understanding of art and its elements.

Materials -
All regular course materials are included, though students may receive lists of supplies if they would like to practice at home after the course ends.
