Description

In "Exploring Still Life in Drawing and Painting," young artists will learn the foundational techniques for representing still life objects in both drawing and painting mediums. Over the span of four weeks, students will learn how to sketch and outline, explore shading and texture, and understand color theory as they apply these techniques to drawing and painting various still life compositions.

Course Outcomes for Elementary Students -

Technical Proficiency: Students will acquire foundational skills in sketching, outlining, shading, and adding texture in both drawing and painting, equipping them for more advanced artistic pursuits.

Color Theory Application: Students will understand the basics of color theory and apply it effectively in creating visually pleasing and realistic still life compositions in both mediums.

Critical Observation Skills: Students will develop the ability to closely observe real-life objects and replicate them on paper or canvas, capturing the object's form, proportions, and lighting.

Artistic Decision-Making: Encouraging independent thinking within a supportive framework will help students make intentional choices in the art-making process, from selecting subjects to choosing a medium.

Collaborative Skills and Peer Feedback: Through classroom interactions, students will learn to give and receive constructive feedback, enhancing both their communication skills and their art-making process.

Love for Art-Making: The course aims to instill a love for the process of creating art, offering students intrinsic satisfaction and encouraging them to continue exploring art beyond the classroom.
