Description

In this dynamic course designed for adult learners, delve into the art of comic writing and learn the essential techniques to create captivating narratives and develop memorable characters. Explore the principles of storytelling, dialogue, pacing, and visual storytelling specific to the medium of comics. Through a combination of interactive exercises, group discussions, and expert guidance, students will gain the skills and knowledge to craft their own compelling comic scripts that resonate with readers.

 

Course Outcomes for Students - 

Mastery of Comic Writing Techniques: Gain proficiency in unique aspects of comic writing, including how to write for visual storytelling and craft engaging dialogue.
Well-Crafted Narratives: Develop compelling story premises and plots, making use of different narrative structures and plot devices.
Complex Character Development: Acquire techniques for creating multi-dimensional characters that enrich their narratives.
Effective Dialogue Creation: Master the art of crafting dialogue that is not only realistic but also serves to develop characters and advance the plot.
Pacing and Layout: Understand how to control pacing and page layout to enhance storytelling impact, including skillful use of panel transitions.

Requirements - A curious and interested mind, and some comics experience is necessary for this course.  

Materials - All regular course materials are included, though students may receive lists of supplies if they would like to practice at home after the course ends.
