Description

In the Art Journaling and Creative Doodling course for ages 6 to 12, students will get the chance to explore the introspective and imaginative worlds of journaling and doodling. Over four weeks, they'll fill their own art journals with creative doodles, sketches, and even some written words. This course focuses on the joy of the process rather than the perfection of the product. We'll learn various doodling techniques, explore mixed media, and even get a taste of basic hand lettering, all while working in an art journal that becomes a keepsake of the child's artistic journey.

Course Outcomes for Elementary Students - 

Complete an Art Journal: Each student will have a personal art journal filled with creative doodles, sketches, and hand-lettered elements.

Understand Various Techniques: Students will gain an understanding of doodling techniques like zentangling, as well as basics of hand lettering and mixed media applications.

Enhanced Self-Expression: Students will be more comfortable using art as a form of personal expression and self-discovery.

Increased Attention to Detail: Through intricate doodling and journal layout design, students will develop a greater attention to detail.

Peer Review and Feedback: Students will have experienced giving and receiving constructive feedback through peer review sessions.

Mindfulness and Self-Reflection: Through the process of art journaling, students will have engaged in mindfulness practices, helping them to better understand their feelings and thoughts.

 

Requirements - 
A curious and interested mind, no experience is necessary for this course.  

Materials - 
All regular course materials are included, though students may receive lists of supplies if they would like to practice at home after the course ends.
