Advance oil painting and observation skills!
In this class, adult students will exercise skills and elements of observational oil painting. Explore oil paint as a medium and understand its distinction from descriptive line drawing. An emphasis will be placed on the use of oil paint, varying consistency and usage, mixing and color theory. Students will gain confidence and fluency in skill as they come to understand tone, volume, color relationships, and creating accurate representations of light on objects. This course will include informal, warm-up exercises, guided demonstrations and instruction, and inspiration from contemporary artists.
Course Outcomes -
You will gain fluency in observation and painting techniques
Prepare a palette and canvas
Understand basic underpainting techniques to more complex layering
You will depict light and space in painting from observation
You will gain confidence in your oil painting skills
You will finish 1-2 small pieces
Requirements -
Some painting experience is recommended for this course.
Materials -
All course materials are included, though students may receive lists of supplies if they would like to practice at home after the course ends.
