Description

This course introduces young students to the captivating world of watercolor painting, focusing on basic skills and creative techniques. Over the course of four weeks, participants will learn how to handle watercolor paints and explore various methods such as wet-on-wet, dry brush, and layering. Each session will guide students through the processes of mixing colors, controlling water flow, and creating effects that can add depth and emotion to their paintings. The class will cover essential concepts such as color theory, composition, and the use of light and shadow. Students will practice these techniques through a series of projects, each designed to build confidence and encourage artistic exploration in a fun and supportive environment. This class is perfect for beginners eager to dive into the world of watercolors and develop a foundation for future artistic endeavors.

Course Outcomes for Elementary Students - 

  • Mastery of Watercolor Techniques: Students will learn foundational watercolor techniques such as wet-on-wet, dry brush, and layering. They will understand how to manipulate these methods to create different effects in their artwork.
  • Color Theory Understanding: Participants will gain a strong understanding of color theory, learning how to mix watercolors to achieve a wide range of hues and how colors interact on paper.

Requirements - 
A curious and interested mind, no experience is necessary for this course.  


Materials - 
All regular course materials are included, though students may receive lists of supplies if they would like to practice at home after the course ends.
