Starting from Scratch: Learn to Paint - Holiday Edition is a condensed six-week course tailored for absolute beginners who want to explore painting just in time for the holiday season. This festive course focuses on basic painting techniques using acrylics and watercolors, ideal for creating holiday-themed artwork and handmade gifts. Participants will learn about essential painting tools, color mixing, and simple finishing techniques to create vibrant and cheerful pieces. Each session is designed to build confidence in beginners, with step-by-step guidance and a focus on festive motifs such as winter landscapes, holiday ornaments, and seasonal flora. By the end of the course, students will have completed several holiday-themed paintings, perfect for decorating their home or giving as personalized gifts.

Course Outcomes for Elementary Students - 

• Familiarity with Painting Supplies: Students will learn about the basic painting supplies needed for acrylic and watercolor painting, including brushes, paints, and paper. They will understand how to set up their painting space and prepare materials for use.
• Basic Painting Techniques: Participants will master fundamental painting techniques such as brush strokes, blending colors, and creating simple forms. These skills will be taught through the lens of creating holiday-themed artwork.
• Holiday-Themed Art Projects: Each class will focus on a different holiday theme, allowing students to create a variety of festive artworks. Projects will include painting winter scenes, holiday decorations, and other seasonal subjects.
• Color Mixing and Application: Students will learn the basics of color theory and how to mix paints to achieve the perfect holiday colors, enhancing the festive feel of their artwork.

No experience is needed at all for this class, just a curious and interested mind!

We will provide materials for students, but are happy to provide a materials list for students once the course starts if desired.
