This introductory course invites young artists to the practice of still life drawing, a fundamental skill in the visual arts that focuses on arranging and rendering objects from everyday life. Over four weeks, students will learn to observe and depict a variety of subjects, such as fruits, vegetables, and household items, using pencil, charcoal, and other drawing media. The course emphasizes the development of observational skills, understanding of form, and the basics of shading and perspective. Each session will guide students through the process of setting up a still life, observing the interplay of light and shadow, and translating these observations into accurate and detailed drawings. This class is ideal for young learners looking to strengthen their drawing capabilities and gain confidence in their ability to capture the world around them on paper.
