Fundamental Figure Drawing is a course designed for teens eager to develop their skills in drawing the human figure. Over six weeks, students will explore the foundational techniques of figure drawing, focusing on anatomy, proportion, gesture, and form. The course includes sessions with live models, providing students with valuable experience in capturing the dynamics and nuances of the human body. Each class will feature demonstrations, hands-on practice, and personalized feedback to help students refine their technique and improve their observational skills. This course is ideal for young artists looking to enhance their understanding of figure drawing and develop a strong portfolio piece.
Course Outcomes for Teen Students -
Requirements -
We strongly recommend that teens have some drawing experience for success in this course.
Materials -
All regular course materials are included, though students may receive lists of supplies if they would like to practice at home after the course ends.
Note -
This course is slightly higher cost than our usual teen courses as several sessions feature a live model for observational drawing. These models will be clothed, for all's knowledge and reference. If you have any questions about this work and practice, please email us.
You may see on the website that we do offer a life drawing session at Cultivate on Tuesday nights - while these are excellent practice, it is almost always a fully nude model and therefore is only open to adults 18+. Students may join when they are of age per our policy.
