From Drawing to Publication: Creating Your Own Book is an exciting and unique course where young artists will learn how to turn their drawings into a published book on Kindle. Over four weeks, students will go through the entire process of creating a book, from conceptualizing their story and illustrating it to formatting and publishing it online. Each participant will create their own story, complete with illustrations, and will learn how to use digital tools to prepare their book for publication. By the end of the course, every student will have a finished, published book that makes a perfect holiday gift for family and friends. This course is ideal for aspiring young authors and illustrators eager to see their work in print and share it with the world.

Course Outcomes for Elementary Students - 

  • Story Development Skills: Students will learn how to develop a cohesive and engaging story, including plotting, character creation, and storyboarding.
  • Illustration Techniques: Participants will enhance their drawing skills, focusing on creating illustrations that complement and enhance their written stories.
  • Digital Formatting: The course will teach students how to use digital tools to format their drawings and text, preparing their book for Kindle publication.
  • Understanding the Publication Process: Students will gain an understanding of the steps involved in publishing a book, from initial concept to final digital publication.
  • Confidence in Creative Expression: By completing and publishing their own book, students will build confidence in their artistic and storytelling abilities, feeling a sense of accomplishment and pride in their work.
  • Finished Published Book: Each student will finish the course with a fully published book on Kindle, providing a tangible and lasting product of their creativity.

Requirements - 
A curious and interested mind, no experience is necessary for this course.  

Materials - 
All regular course materials are included, though students may receive lists of supplies if they would like to practice at home after the course ends. 

Note -

This class is three sessions long, as we will not have class on Thanksgiving. As a result, it is slightly cheaper than our four week sessions.
