Budding Artists
Designed for ages 5-6
Budding Artists is a dynamic class that balances playful exploration with purposeful learning, creating a child-centered environment where young students can express their creativity. Each session begins with storytime, introducing a new artist or concept to spark curiosity and set the stage for the day’s artistic journey. From there, children engage in more structured activities like detailed painting, beginner printmaking, and basic sculpture, all while fully engaging their senses and promoting both fine and gross motor skill development.
While creativity and play are at the heart of each session, the activities are also designed to nurture important social-emotional skills. Students will practice teamwork, communication, and empathy through group projects, while also developing their ability to follow instructions and express their own artistic ideas. This approach supports children in building foundational skills that promote independent thinking and creativity as they transition into kindergarten and more structured learning environments.
Note: This course is only three weeks, as we will not meet the Wednesday before Thanksgiving.
