Art Studio - Sculpture

Develop and strengthen fundamental art skills in our teen art studio - sculpture class! 

Embark on an artistic odyssey with Art Studio - Sculpture, an immersive 8-week course tailored for teens aged 13-18. Immerse yourself in the world of sculpting, mastering fundamental techniques such as carving, molding, and additive and subtractive methods, while delving into sculptural composition and innovative problem-solving. Create bas-relief masterpieces, design captivating kinetic sculptures, explore light and shadow dynamics, and redefine sculptural forms. Cultivate respect, embrace independent thinking, ignite imaginative problem-solving, and enhance collaborative connections in a supportive artistic community. Note: This fall season begins our longer format, six-week courses for teens.  This invites a deeper exploration and study into our work and ideas! 

Course Outcomes for Teen Students - 

• Gain a fluency of sculpture materials and basic practices
• Understand scale, proportion, and forms of sculpture
• Learn about contemporary and historical works of sculptural art across various communities and cultures
• Create purposeful and meaningful works of art to take home 
• Formulate personal responses to a variety of works of art 
• Express or work with your creative ideas
• Finish 1-2 medium pieces and many smaller pieces

Requirements - 
A curious and interested mind, no experience is necessary for this course.  

Materials - 
All course materials are included, though students may receive lists of supplies if they would like to practice at home after the course ends. 

Recommended - 

Optional evening, but we recommend that students join us for Teen Open Studio/Lab on Monday nights at Cultivate, from 6-8pm, to continue to practice lessons learned in class, or to experiment with new ideas, or simply to hang out and make new teen at friends in the community!
